Common Causes of TMJ Problems
Many people experience jaw pain or are diagnosed with TMD because of certain daily habits or health problems that cause damage to the jaw joint and surrounding muscles. Some of the most common causes of TMJ problems include:
- Teeth grinding or clenching habits (bruxism)
- Injury or trauma to the mouth
- Osteoarthritis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
